Sometimes the greatest victories come when you least expect them. For George Hussien A. Vidallon, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology graduate at Notre Dame of Dadiangas University (NDDU), the Certified Human Resource Associate (CHRA) assessment was not initially a part of his career plans. Encouraged by his friends, particularly after his friend Jan Joshua Guevarra mentioned that the CHRA assessment was not difficult, he decided to take it out of curiosity while he patiently awaited the Board Licensure Examination for Psychometriciansโmerely an opportunity to challenge himself and add something worthwhile to his credentials.
What he hadn’t expected was that this “side step” would bring him national acclaim. In his initial effort, George not only succeeded but also achieved an impressive rating of 91.50%, earning a Top 8 position nationwide in the fiercely competitive CHRA examination.
โActually, so funny because I forgot the result will come out by 7 pm,โ he started. โWhen I saw the post, sa first pa lang, which is the top examinees, nakita ko na yung name ko. Unexpectedly, yun na pala yung result na I ranked eight. I didn’t know what to do, I am so happy, very overwhelming,โ Vidallon exclaimed at his unexpected triumph.
His accomplishment demonstrates the value of discipline and preparation, even when success is not the primary objective. Despite the fact that the CHRA exam was not his final goal, he excelled on the national scene owing to a solid NDDU foundation, as well as his innate curiosity and desire to learn.
Vidallon also acknowledges the crucial part that Notre Dame of Dadiangas’ resources’ accessibility had in the outcome. He repurposed all of NDDU’s resources to prepare for the assessment, including old papers that Vidallon uncovered and employed to cover the vast amount of information on human resources subjects. It was challenging to juggle evaluations and searching through the available material, but he saw the experience as a learning opportunity as much as a practice. โIf you are not gonna try, If you do not take a risk, you wonโt feel kung saang path ka pupuntaโ he reflected.
This achievement surpasses George’s expectations, when he stated that earning the CHRA was merely a matter of boredom and not a true dream. Nevertheless, it is a personal triumph and a blessing to him, it serves as a reminder that any obstacle, no matter how minor or surprising, can lead to greater opportunities. He dedicates his success to his family, friends who have supported him through ups and downs, his girlfriend, and NDDU community, who have supported his journey from the very beginning.
As he anticipates obtaining his professional license, Vidallon leaves his favorite quote for students who looked up to his CHRA achievement: โGood, better, best. Never let it rest, until your good is better and your better is best.โ
George Hussien A. Vidallonโs story is not just about placing in the Top 8 nationwideโitโs about discovering excellence in unexpected places. And through his journey, NDDU continues to shine with faith in excellence, proving once again that opportunities meet those who are prepared.
