𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝗡𝗗𝗗𝗨) reaffirmed its commitment to quality research and ethical governance through a benchmarking activity with the 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙄𝙢𝙢𝙖𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 (𝙐𝙄𝘾) 𝙞𝙣 𝘿𝙖𝙫𝙖𝙤 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙤𝙣 𝙎𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 19, 2025. The visit focused on UIC’s Research Ethics Committee (REC), a recognized model for best practices in research ethics review and governance.

The NDDU delegation, headed by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗦. 𝗚𝘂𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮, Acting ERC Chair, engaged with UIC REC officials to gain deeper insights into their organizational structure, standard operating procedures, decision-making frameworks, and monitoring mechanisms. Particular attention was given to post-approval processes, documentation practices, and strategies for ensuring transparency and accountability in ethical research.

The activity aligns with the 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨’ 𝙎𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙂𝙤𝙖𝙡 4 (𝙌𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣) 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙂𝙤𝙖𝙡 16 (𝙋𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙚, 𝙅𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨) by reinforcing ethical, transparent, and accountable research practices that benefit not only the academic community but also the wider society. Furthermore, it underscores NDDU’s thrust toward internationalization, as research governance is a critical pillar in building partnerships and credibility with global institutions.

NDDU’s management emphasizes that by learning from UIC’s REC model, the university is not only enhancing its institutional systems but also positioning itself to engage more meaningfully in international collaborations. Ethical research is a shared language that connects the academic community to global networks committed to advancing human dignity and sustainable development.

The benchmarking activity also explored opportunities for collaboration between NDDU and UIC in promoting ethical clinical and social research practices across the region. These initiatives aim to prepare both institutions for deeper engagement in academic mobility, research partnerships, and international projects that support the achievement of the SDGs.

Through this visit, NDDU strengthens its role as a transformative educational institution that fosters responsible research, contributes to sustainable development, and embraces internationalization as a strategic direction for growth and innovation.
